That We All May Be One

I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one–as you are in me, Father, and I am in you. John 17:21 NLT

The pain of tension, feeling unmeshed, at odds, and unwell. A lack of shalom – of peace, of all being well.

It’s the tension between being part of an eternal family that will, one day, be perfect in unity, love, peace and understanding…

…and the present relationships within the human family of God — that are sometimes, and too often, divisive, petty, disapproving, distant, and misunderstanding.

We see glimpses of the promise (thank God!) — that, and grace, keeps us going. Keeps us living in hope. Doing good when and where we can. And forgiving when we fall short.

The unifying of the family of God is part of God’s redemptive process. A process that will one day be complete and beautifully perfected before the throne of God.

Until then, we pray with Jesus, “that we all may be one.”
